Lately, I’ve noticed that there is an influx of ‘hacks’ from ‘productivity influencers.’ There seems to be a shortcut for nearly everything on earth. Some way to take an easy way out, regardless of the need. Shaving seconds here, shaving seconds there, trying to make the whole world a little bit easier.

We currently live in a world with an extensive menu of conveniences. Our eyes are constantly met with the latest apps and gadgets, all promising to make our lives easier and simpler. But have you ever thought that perhaps instead of running away from difficult situations, embracing them and mastering them is actually the key to an easy life?

Today, everyone seems to be chasing the fast, instant and convenient. It’s like we’re in a world that’s been put on fast-forward. Pop-up ads promising instant meals, one-click purchases, and apps designed to manage everything from our finances to our love lives. Basically, everything is served on a silver platter, and we’ve been conditioned to pick the path of least resistance.

With our lives getting “smarter” every moment, from our phones to our homes, technology is designed to remove all the hassle from our lives. Everything is becoming so effortless that we can control our environment with a swipe, a tap or even just a voice command. Daily chores are no longer chores but afterthoughts due to services like online shopping and food delivery.

But it may be wise to consider the coin’s flip side. With all this convenience, we’re slowly losing our ability to grapple with difficult tasks. If we become too dependent on easy solutions, we could see diminished skills, lower resilience, and, surprisingly, stunted personal growth.

Let me tell you a little secret. Too much ease can make us complacent. When we’re stuck in a loop of doing what’s easy, we miss out on opportunities for growth and challenge. If we keep avoiding difficulties, we’ll never learn the skills we need to overcome obstacles, leaving us unprepared for life’s spice—its challenges.

If we let ourselves fall into this pit, this lack of challenges can eat away at our resilience. We become less capable of coping with adversity and more likely to throw in the towel when the going gets tough. And the worst part? It affects our personal and professional lives, making it harder for us to achieve our goals and find joy.

But let’s not dwell on pessimism. Let’s talk about resilience and tackling hardships. When we take on tough tasks, we build up our mental and emotional strength. We learn to deal with stress and adversity, and that makes us better equipped for the troubles that lie ahead.

Think about the people, the successful ones, who didn’t shy away from a good challenge. Like J.K Rowling, who weathered numerous rejections before her Harry Potter series hit the shelves. Now, that’s resilience! Stories like these show us how grit and determination can turn dreams into reality.

Mastery and confidence—now that’s a power combo! Every difficulty you overcome boosts your self-confidence and augments your skillset. And this confidence seeps into every facet of your life, creating a ripple effect of ease and success.

When you’re proficient at difficult tasks, you create a sense of competence that becomes your shadow, making it easier for you to take on new challenges and achieve your goals. Take the example of learning a musical instrument. It demands patience, practice, and perseverance. But once you master it, not only does it bring joy but also lessons about discipline and focus that can be applied elsewhere, enhancing your life’s quality.

Want to make the most of this? Start by identifying and prioritizing your challenges. If they align with your goals and values, consider them. Tackle the major tasks first, as they’re likely to yield the most return on investment. This strategic approach will ensure you invest energy in pursuits that matter.

Break down the difficult tasks.

You’ve identified them, but what next? Break them down into smaller, manageable steps. Take one step at a time, and before you know it, you’ll have climbed the whole staircase. Every small victory is a cause for celebration and will keep you motivated.

Consistency and commitment are your tools for the journey ahead. Keep your goals focused and push through challenges. When you hit a wall, see it as an opportunity to grow. Always stay committed to your dreams because, trust me, they will pay off.
